Embrace Change with Love

Change is inevitable. Although the word change invokes a sense of uncertainty in us that doesn’t do justice to describe the journey we embark on every single day. The journey of turmoil and struggle against our thoughts and circumstances.

Adaptability, willingness and courage are qualities we have to embody as we move through the world and embrace the one inevitability we all face in this life, change.

Change never stops. We overcome it in one moment, then our world descends into chaos in the next. We pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and try again.

I heard a beautiful approach by Dr Joe Dispenza on a podcast the other day, in a difficult or challenging situation, he asks: “What would love do? What would greatness do?”

If we can take a moment to step back, take a breath and consider this question in any and every situation that presents itself to us, we can adjust the frequency of our response.

When the frequency of our response changes, not only do we change, the outcome changes also.

Victor Frankl said: “Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”

When we choose to measure our response against the greatest power in the universe, love, we are transformed. Our energy moves towards the divine. We are suddenly in coherence with our inner creator and the divine within.

Choosing to measure yourself against greatness isn’t boastful, or arrogant in any way. It is quite the opposite. It is a humble recognition of how we often fall short.

As this inner change happens our response to the challenge we face can be nothing but one of love. We embody essence of the Indian greeting ‘namaste’ — the divine in me sees the divine in you. No matter how clouded things have become by worldly circumstance, love brings connectedness and accord where there was dissonance.

Love, the greatest of all energies lives within us and flows through all things. When we connect with love, we too become love. We emanate love into the world.

This is what is described in John 1:5, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” Here, John is talking about the ultimate act of love shown by Jesus. Light and love are interchangeable. When we connect to our own light of love and let it shine the darkness flees from it.

When we step into our light. When we step into love. We become who we were
meant to become, and we meet each change, each challenge with an unshakeable fortitude and with the invincible force of love.

The next time you face a challenge, or are presented with an opportunity for
change, ask yourself, “what would love do?”
